Scottish Reform making an impact at Birmingham conference

YES, IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN! The party conference season kicks off this week with the Reform UK conference starting on Thursday 3rd for its business day, with keynote speeches following on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th.

There are a great many fringe meetings and social get-togethers giving a real buzz to the atmosphere so to help people choose what to go to The Reformer has put together a list of events that members of Scottish Reform will be participating in.

The Thursday is the business day but many Scottish attendees will not be down until Thursday evening due to the Scottish Parliament being in session this week and First Minister’s Questions at Thursday lunchtime (1.30pm). But on the Friday it is a different kettle of eels…

Here are the events involving Scottish politicians that we know of so far. If we find some new events we shall add them t the relevant day. Have fun out there…

FRIDAY 4th September

THE GROWTH COMMISSION: make Britain grow again – How to kickstart the UK economy

Scottish leader Malcolm Offord will be taking part in this Growth Commission event with Shanker Singham, Chairman of the Growth Commission and Deputy UK Leader Richard Tice. Also speaking is the well-known Scottish economist and Growth Commissioner, Ewen Stewart.

MORE IN COMMON: Can nature help Reform build a lasting coalition?

Helen McDade, MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife – and Graham Simpson MSP for Central Scotland and Lothians West will both be participating in this discussion about the ability of countryside issues to build working relationships in legislatures.

BRIGHT BLUE: How can we reduce energy costs for households?

Duncan Massey, MSP for North East region and Convener of the Scottish Parliament Economy, Tourism and Energy Committee, will join a panel including Gawain Towler and Duncan Carter of Calor Gas.

KEYNOTE SPEECH: Malcolm Offord, Leader of Reform UK Scotland

Malcolm Offord addresses the conference for the first time as the leader of Reform UK Scotland in a year that saw Reform break through to match Labour and share the position of leading opposition to the SNP, replacing the Conservatives in the process of doing so.
